Shanghai FTZ offshore issuance has tripled so far this year

• Offshore bonds new issuance: 26 Chinese issuers raised $3.2 billion of debt in the offshore market in October. China Sinochem Holdings was the largest issuer.
• Onshore credit bonds new issuance: 462 issuers raised 831 billion yuan of bonds in the China onshore credit market in October, with new issuance volume increasing 6% from the previous month.
• Shanghai free-trade-zone bonds offshore issuance surge: Year-to-date issuance of offshore Shanghai Free Trade Zone bonds is more than triple the total for 2021, mainly driven by offshore bonds denominated in yuan.

• APAC ESG bonds issuance: ESG issuance volume in China was surpassed by that of the Japanese market in October for the first time since June 2022, when issuance volume was surpassed by the Korean market.
• China ESG bonds issuance: Green bonds continued to dominate ESG issuance in the Chinese market. However, the size of sustainability-linked bond issuance shrank in September and October.
• China ESG bonds issuance by industry: The financial sector's ESG bond issuance volume regained its leading position among other sectors in October after being surpassed by industrials in September.
