BloombergNEF assessed more than 30 proposed supply projects, out of which seven emerged as the top contenders to reach final investment decision (FID) in 2019.
These seven projects will add around 82MMtpa to global liquefaction capacity and need an investment of approximately $101 billion. Another five projects are likely to be approved in 2020.
U.S. Gulf of Mexico projects face the steepest competition. They will need an edge among costs, feed gas supply, ship channel location and developer strength to progress their projects ahead of others.
